We have also had some students participate in the Intercultural Peer Learning Program (IPLP), one of them being Winsome, who gave an account of the experience below: "In January 2025, I had the incredible opportunity to represent HKUST students on a transformative design thinking trip to Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in South Korea. Over the course of one week, we immersed ourselves in design thinking methodologies, collaborating with peers to tackle real-world challenges. Our focus was on enhancing mobility for the elderly in Korea, particularly within the bustling subway system, which lacks vertical handrails for support. Inspired by this need, we designed a sturdy, ergonomic stick that provides stability for seniors during their commutes. This innovative solution addresses safety concerns and promotes independence for elderly passengers. Working alongside talented students from SKKU, we combined our diverse perspectives to create a final product that we were proud of. This experience was not just about design; it was about empathy, collaboration, and the impact of thoughtful innovation on everyday lives. It deepened my appreciation for design thinking and its potential to solve pressing societal issues."

Engineering Info Week 2024 was a week-long event that provided Year 1 engineering students with a fantastic opportunity to make an informed decision about choosing their major. The event was specifically designed to help students explore their options and discover their passions. One of the highlights of the event were the Guided Lab Tours, which allowed students to witness firsthand the practical work and projects undertaken by students in each major. This hands-on experience provided valuable insights into the nature of each field and helped students gain a better understanding of what studying that major would entail. For those seeking face-to-face interactions, the Tea Mingling Sessions provided an opportunity to engage in quality conversations with faculty members from each department. Students had the chance to chat and gain a better understanding of the different majors offered, allowing them to gather valuable information and perspectives. And let's not forget the fun activities! By actively participating in the events, students had the chance to collect stamps and play the Claw Machine, offering them the exciting opportunity to win prizes. Lucky charms were also available in limited quantities, adding to the enjoyment of the week.

Looking for a spot to study? Look no further than Engineering Commons. Seeking a place to unwind? Engineering Commons is the perfect haven. Craving a place to hang out with friends? Engineering Commons is the ultimate spot. Engineering Commons was established as an inclusive space for all Engineering students. However, as time has passed, the wear and tear have become noticeable, signaling the need for a renovation. But before we say our final goodbyes to Engineering Commons, to make the most of it, we have organized an 'Messy Art' Event to have a blast together!
